It's becoming "close to impossible" to reach communities in areas of Iraq which are controlled by terrorists, according to Nickolay Mladenov the Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).

The extremist group which calls itself the Islamic State, also known as ISIL, has been terrorising large areas of northern Iraq.

It's become infamous for the beheadings, summary executions and rape of local people.

Reem Abaza has been speaking to Mr Mladenov. She began buy asking him how the international community can help to defeat ISIL
