The voices of the people must be heard in the designing of the new UN Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs which will replace the Millennium Development Goals in 2015.

That's according to the President of the global organization of national parliaments or IPU, representing 6.5 billion people in the world.

The IPU Annual Hearing at the UN is opening on Thursday with the expected participation of at least a 100 elected representatives from various countries.
