International agricultural commodity markets under spotlight in Rome

The governance of international agricultural commodity markets is coming under spotlight in Rome this week.

Ministers from around the world are gathering at the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO to discuss how improvements can be made to the way the markets are governed.

The agriculture sector employs more than a billion people globally and accounts for a fifth of the world's economic activity.

Sandra Ferrari asked David Hallam, the Director of the Trade and Markets Division at FAO why governance was chosen as an issue.
