Indigenous people are the oldest conservationists in the world, according to a consortium of indigenous groups known by the acronym, ICCA.

An international meeting on biodiversity is currently underway in Korea, which is considering how knowledge and traditional practices of local communities are key to halting the loss of natural resources.

Ashish Kothari is from the Indian environmental organization Kalpavriksh and the ICCA.

The Consortium has released a report on how indigenous peoples can contribute to saving the world's biodiversity through the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)

Florencia Soto Nino asked Mr Kothari about this contribution.
