Ebola outbreak demands an "urgent and global" response

An "urgent and global response" is needed to stop the Ebola outbreak in its tracks, the UN chief has warned.

The United Nations says it requires a billion dollars to bring the outbreak in West Africa under control.

The number of cases in West Africa has reached 9,000 and the death toll is expected to rise to 4,500 this week.
