Women's economic empowerment is key to sustainable development

Barriers to women's economic empowerment can be removed, according to the Executive Director of the UN's agency for gender equality, UN Women.

On Saturday, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka was at a ministerial panel at UN Headquarters in New York, to discuss women's economic potential and the key role they play for sustainable development.

Ms Mlambo-Ngcuka is pushing for legislations that hinder women's economic participation to be removed.

Stephanie Coutrix asked Ms Mlambo-Ngcuka about the main barriers that women face.
