Montenegro assisted by UN nuclear agency to dispose radioactive waste

Lightning rods are used to protect buildings from lightning strikes by diverting lightning harmlessly to the ground.

In the past, such rods contained radioactive material sources to make them more conductive to lighting.

Montenegro is now assisted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to remove the radioactive sources and manage them safely.
