Food prices dropped in August, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

FAO's monthly Food Price Index registered its lowest level since September 2010.

The agency says the drop in prices of the main crops is due to improved production outlook as a result of good weather conditions in key growing regions.

Sandra Ferrari asked Peter Thoenes, an economist with FAO in Rome about the major trends in this month's Food Price Index.
