Suicide is a neglected public health problem, according to a doctor at the World Health Organization (WHO) who heads the Department of Violence, Injury prevention, and Disability.

Dr Etienne Krug says that every year, 800,000 people commit suicide; that's one person every 40 seconds.

On Thursday, WHO published its first global suicide prevention report.

The Organization says it is a call for action to address a problem which has been taboo for too long.

Patrick Maigua asked Dr Krug about the findings of this report.
