Cuba has called for a halt to foreign intervention in the ongoing crisis in Syria.

Speaking in the UN General Assembly, Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, said US air-strikes were in contravention of international law.

The US has attacked militants of the terrorist group, ISIL, on Syrian territory.

Foreign Minister Parrilla said western intervention has to stop.

(Spanish, followed by English interpretation)
"The foreign intervention in Syria should come to an end. It is inconceivable that western powers encourage, finance and arm terrorist groups to pit them against one State while at the same time, they attempt to combat their crimes in another State, as is currently occurring  in Iraq."  (27″)

The Foreign Minister also branded the inclusion of Cuba on the US government's list of state sponsors of international terrorism as "unilateral and arbitrary."

He said the true purpose of the accusation was to justify the ongoing economic blockade of his country by the United States.
