Across the African continent, more than 15 million young people are unemployed, according to the International Labour Organization (ILO).

The agency adds that most of those who are working earn less than two US dollars a day.

The ILO's Youth to Youth Fund (Y2Y Fund) is a competitive grant scheme, which enables youth-led non-profit organisations to pilot and replicate innovative projects that create employment for young people by helping them set up micro-enterprises in niche markets.

Derrick Mbatha reports.
