Devastation of World War II (NICA ID: 84791)

Women who were used as sex slaves by the Japanese army during the Second World War need justice and reparations for what they have endured.

That's what United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said on Wednesday as she made the appeal once again for an effective resolution of the issue.

Instead of justice, the High Commissioner said, the women were facing increasing denials and degrading remarks by public figures in Japan.

Her Spokesperson, Ravina Shamdasani told Patrick Maigua that the issue is current, because these so-called "comfort women" continue to be victimized.
