Giving a baby breast milk in the early hours of birth has been scientifically proven to increase a newborn's chances of survival.

That's according to Dr. Noel Marie Zagre, the Regional Nutrition Advisor for UNICEF in Equatorial and Southern Africa.

The world is currently celebrating Breastfeeding Week which began on 1 August and ends on 7 August.

Led by the World Health Organization and UNICEF, the Week advocates the importance of breastfeeding in raising healthy children.

Dr Zagre began by sharing with Jerome Longué how medical practitioners are trying to dispel the myth that substitute milk is better than breast milk.
