As the auditing of the votes from the June 14 run-off presidential election continues in Afghanistan, more than 5,000 ballot boxes have been opened.

The auditing process is part of the effort to resolve a dispute created by the objections to the announcement of the preliminary results by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in July.

Experts from the UN Development Programme (UNDP) are helping in the auditing of the votes.

Nicholas Haysom, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Afghanistan, spoke to Tilak Pokharel about the auditing process.
