Experts discuss ensuring education for girls and womenListen /
Teachers, students, and education and human rights experts from around the world are gathering in Geneva to discuss how to ensure that girls and women have access to education.
The discussion will feed into the work of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women and the recommendations it will make to States on their obligations to provide education.
Among the keynote speakers at the event is Mariam Khalique, who taught the Pakistani youth rights activist, Malala Yousafzai.
Malala was shot in the head by the extremist Taliban group in Pakistan for defending girls' right to go to school.
Since that time, she's been advocating for children's education worldwide.
