Young people from over 65 countries around the world are gathering at the UN in New York on Monday for a forum of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

Other young people are contributing online during the two-day discussions of what they would like to see included in the post-2015 development agenda.

The year 2015 is the deadline for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) set by world leaders to eradicate extreme poverty.

The ECOSOC forum is building on inputs from more than 1.2 million young people who voted in last year's MyWorld2015 survey and the crowd sourcing platform launched earlier this year.

The UN Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth, Ahmad Alhendawi spoke to Derrick Mbatha about the forum.
