Social media can empower youth to change future

Technology and social media should be embraced as a method of self-empowerment.

So says Olivia Rowley, a student from Tufts University in the US, who recently attended a conference on youth at the UN.

Her message, that social media can affect real political change, was echoed throughout the conference.

Sophie Outhwaite spoke to Olivia Rowley about potential uses of social media in facilitating youth engagement in political issues.
