Music can make people smile and give them a sense of inner peace, according to Midori Goto, world renowned violinist and United Nations Messenger of Peace.

Midori, as she is generally known across the world,  performed at the UN and took part in an interactive discussion about her music and her role as a Messenger of Peace.

Her current area of focus is on youth and the UN's global anti-poverty goals also known as the Millennium Development Goals.

According to the Secretary-General, she has agreed to expand her efforts to include maternal mortality and children's health and to help end violence against women and girls.

Beng Poblete-Enriquez compiled this montage  following Midori’s visit to UN headquarters in New York.
