Human rights abuses in Iraq cause concern at UN

There has been a "dramatic deterioration" of the situation in Iraq, the United Nations human rights office warned on Friday.

The rebel fighters of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), also known as ISIS, overran a number of towns and cities, including Mosul the second largest city early this week.

About half a million Iraqis have fled Mosul to seek safety elsewhere and are now in need of humanitarian assistance.
