The sustainable use of environmental resources is "crucial" to the prosperity of Kenya, according to the Ambassador of Kenya to the United Nations in Nairobi.

Martin Kimani was speaking at the inaugural meeting of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA), a new body that places environmental issues at the heart of international affairs.

The East African country has been grappling with a number of challenges, including the poaching of wildlife.

Monica Grayley asked Mr Kimani about the significance of the UNEA meeting.
