Young people need to know more about the environmental challenges facing small island developing states or SIDS, according to an activist from Barbados in the Caribbean.

Hundreds of environment ministers, decision makers, scientists, civil society representatives and business leaders are gathered in Nairobi, Kenya for the inaugural meeting of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA).

UNEA is a new world body that places environmental issues at the heart of international affairs.

Monica Grayley asked Stefan Knights, a representative from Tunza, a youth project of the UN Environment Programme, about the challenges facing SIDS.
