Polls close in India, vote counting begins

A huge proportion of voters in India are young people under 25. UNifeed (video capture)

India has started counting votes on Friday, following the world's largest ever electoral exercise.

Voter turnout is estimated at 835 million, according to the UN Development Programme's Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific.

The agency says around 11 million personnel were deployed by India's Electoral Commission to help people exercise their right to vote.
