Need to bridge gaps in access to drinking water and sanitation

The lack of provision in access to drinking water and sanitation in certain parts of the world need to be reduced further, according to a new report by two United Nations agencies.

The World Health Organization and the UN's Children's Fund report, entitled Progress on drinking water and sanitation: 2014 update, was released on Thursday.

The report shows that despite improved access to clean drinking water and sanitation facilities globally, sharp inequalities persist.
