Mother Earth needs new legal system to recognize its inherent rightsListen /
Mother Earth would benefit from a new legal system, where just as we recognize human rights, we would recognize the inherent rights of nature.
That's according to Linda Sheehan, the Executive Director of the Earth Law Centre, an organization based in California that advocates for legal changes in governance.
Ms Sheehan was at UN Headquarters in New York on International Mother Earth Day, celebrated every 22 April, to moderate a dialogue on harmony with nature.
Stephanie Coutrix asked Linda Sheehan how one can create this harmony.
