The Maasai people of East Africa are facing the threat of land dispossession according to an activist from this indigenous community.

Yannick Ndoinyo, Executive Director the Tanzania-based IrkiRamat Foundation, is attending this year's session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues which began in New York on Monday.

According to Mr. Ndoinyo, the Maasai and other people living in villages of Tanzania are facing extreme poverty.

Derrick Mbatha caught up with Mr. Ndoinyo and first asked him about the theme of this year's session, which is good governance.
