A new interactive digital globe that graphically depicts the vulnerability of our planet is calling attention to what is really happening on Earth, according to its creator.

Japanese Professor Shinichi Takemura is presenting his invention called "Tangible Earth" at United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The globe allows users to view the condition of the planet, including potential natural disasters, based on scientific data.

Professor Takemura is Director of the Earth Literacy Programme, a partner of the UN Office for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR).

Stephanie Coutrix met him in front of the globe, for a tour of digital Earth.
