An initiative to make all investments sensitive to disaster risk is being launched by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday.

The R!se Initiative is aimed at encouraging a new way of collaboration by people in the private and public sector willing to take leadership on disaster risk reduction.

The UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction and PricewaterhouseCoopers is joining with other companies and institutions in supporting the initiative.

R!se will facilitate the exchange of experience and knowledge to implement tangible disaster risk projects through eight streams of activities.

Some of these include strategies for global business, risk metrics for economic forecasting, principles for responsible investing, and resilience of cities.
