Leaders in government, business, finance and civil society from around the world are in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to debate practical solutions to reducing greenhouse gases and enhancing resilience to climate change.

The high-level meeting named Abu Dhabi Ascent after its host city aims to generate momentum ahead of the UN Climate Summit in September this year.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon also arrived on Sunday to hold talks with the various delegates as well as visit the Shams Solar Power Plant.

Participants in the Ascent will have the opportunity to explore climate actions in areas like renewable energy sources, improving energy efficiency, developing smart agricultural practices, cleaner transport, improving city infrastructure, reducing carbon pollutants, and increasing financing for climate action.
