The expansion of broadband services on the internet has been described as a "game-changer" in India by the chairman of the country's Telecom Commission.

M.F. Farooqui says that with increased accessibility and the right price, broadband could provide access to information and become a major driver of sustainable development.

Telecom experts recently gathered at the World Telecommunication Development conference in Dubai, organised by the UN's International Telecommunication Union (ITU), to discuss how information technology can contribute to development.

Maximillian Jacobson-Gonzalez began by asking Mr Farooqui, about the importance of telecom data services as opposed to voice services.
