Ban Ki-moon in Shanghai to discuss building a new Asia

The United Nations Secretary-General is on Tuesday attending the Fourth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

Ban Ki-moon is participating in the opening ceremony of the two-day conference.

In Shanghai, world leaders will discuss increasing dialogue, mutual trust and collaboration to build a new Asia.

Issues related to preventing terrorism are also expected to be on the agenda, according to media reports.

The conference was established in 1992 as a forum for dialogue and consultations, and to promote confidence-building measures.

To date it groups 24 member states and 13 observers.
