Arab Youth volunteering for a better futureListen /
The role of volunteerism in channelling the energies of young people in the Arab world has been a subject of discussion in a two-day forum that ended in the Moroccan City of Marrakesh on Wednesday.
About 100 representatives of governments, civil society and youth shared ideas about volunteerism in the meeting that was organized by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme.
The role that young people in the region played during the uprisings known as the Arab Spring highlighted the importance of looking at the concerns and needs of the youth in the region.
To find out more about the forum in Marrakesh, May Yaacoub spoke with Rosemary Kalapurakal, Deputy Executive Coordinator of UNV.
