Amplify voices of women, girls to combat social norms: World Bank

Having a "voice" allows women to challenge social norms that dictate how men and women behave and can help advance the global development agenda, the World Bank highlights in its latest report on gender.

There are laws treat men and women differently in over 100 countries, the report says, making it impossible for a woman to get a job, access credit or obtain an identification card.

Entitled "Voice and Agency: Empowering Women and Girls for Shared Prosperity," the report puts a spotlight on the value of enabling women and girls to fulfill their potential.
