World must stop wasting good food: FAOListen /
The world cannot afford to squander one third of total agricultural production through food loss and waste, according to a group of agricultural ministers from across Europe and Central Asia.
The delegates are attending a round-table session in Bucharest, Romania as part of the biennial Regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
In a paper prepared for the session, FAO examined food losses and waste in the region, comparing low-, middle- and high-income countries, as well as looking at different food supply chains.
Stjepan Tanic, an economist in FAO's Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia spoke to Sandra Ferrari about the extent of the problem.
