Two missing UN staff members in Pakistan reunited with familiesListen /
Two staff members of the UN children's agency (UNICEF), who had been missing for three days in the Pakistani city of Karachi, have been reunited with their families.
According to UNICEF, the two local employees went missing on Thursday evening and were thought to have been kidnapped.
UN spokesperson Vittorio Cammarota said when UNICEF could not make any contact with the two workers, it alerted the Pakistani police.
"Over the next three days, the police managed the investigation and stayed in contact with their families and so UNICEF Country Office did. The two staff members are now in safe hands and are being assisted by their families and with the support of the UNICEF Country Office. Colleagues of the United Nations family welcome them back and stand ready to provide the needed support." (21")
