Arms Trade Treaty marks one year anniversary at UNListen /
The Arms Trade Treaty was adopted in the General Assembly on the 2nd of April 2013 by a vote of 154 in favour, 3 against, and 23 abstentions.
The three countries against the adoption were Syria, Iran, and North Korea.
The Arms Trade Treaty regulates the global trade of conventional arms, from handguns to battle tanks and warships.
It is meant to foster peace and security by thwarting uncontrolled destabilizing arms flows to conflict regions.
