Men's network promotes gender equality in MozambiqueListen /
It is increasingly being recognized that for societies to make progress women need to be treated as equal partners with men.
And so, as the United Nations works on the Sustainable Development Goals that will replace the Millennium Development Goals after 2015, the role of women is being emphasized time and again.
What is also increasingly being stressed is the role that men have to play in promoting gender equality.
In Mozambique, there is a network of organizations called the Men for Change Network which is addressing issues of masculinity, gender equality, health and human rights.
UN Radio's Derrick Mbatha caught up with Julio Langa, the network's coordinator, who attended a major women's meeting at UN Headquarters recently to find out about the work of his organization.
