World leaders have been urged by the UN Secretary-General to come up with concrete measures to fight climate change.

Ban Ki-moon was speaking during a trip to Greenland where he went to see the impacts of climate change.

He said changes in climate that he had witnessed in places like the Arctic Circle affect the whole world.

"I am deeply alarmed by fast moving glaciers and fast melting ice cap which raises sea levels which affects the whole international communities environmental system."

The trip comes ahead of a Climate Summit that the Secretary-General has convened in New York in September, which will be attended by leaders from around the world.

In 2015 it is hoped that a worldwide agreement will be adopted to reduce the causes of global warming through the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
