The killing of two Iraqi cameramen has been condemned by Irina Bokova, the Director General of the UN's Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The journalists who worked for the Al-Iraqia television network were killed last week in a suicide blast at a checkpoint in the city of Hilla.

Bokova voiced concern for the safety of media workers in Iraq and called on authorities to ensure that those responsible for the deaths of journalists be brought to justice.

This recent attack brings the number of journalists killed in Iraq to 18 since the beginning of 2013.
