UN nuclear agency involves public in tackling nuclear emergencies

IAEA fact-finding mission assesses Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant (file photo 2011)

After the Fukushima Daiichi Accident in 2011, the IAEA initiated a series of meetings on different aspects of preparing and dealing with nuclear incidents and emergencies.

The most recent meeting held in February focused on Radiation Protection and improving public involvement.

The meeting also took a unique approach of involving more young professionals from the nuclear field.
