A terrorist bombing in Benghazi in Libya on Monday which targeted members of the military, killing a number and injuring others, has been strongly condemned by the UN mission in the country UNSMIL.

The mission called on all Libyans to denounce the continued series of what it called "acts of violence and terror" such as kidnappings, assassinations and bombings.

Stephane Dujarric, the Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General said that the people of Libya have to pull together.

"The Mission urges Libyans to rally around their national institutions in confronting these crimes and calls upon officials and all forces to intensify efforts to put an end to all what puts the security of the citizens at risk and hampers the building of the State."

Last week the Secretary-General's Special Representative and head of UNSMIL, Tarek Mitri, told the Security Council that the previous three months had shown a "dramatic" increase in violence across the country.
