Strategic moment for women in setting of future development goals

Activists from around the world have been at the United Nations in New York over the past two weeks to advocate for the inclusion of gender issues in new development goals.

The new poverty targets will replace the Millennium Development Goals the deadline for which is the end of 2015.

Non-governmental organisations are pushing for a specific goal on gender equality and human rights and have been busy in the corridors of the UN building lobbying world governments for change.

Daniel Dickinson asked Françoise Girard from the International Women’s Health Coalition about the importance of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
