Haiti is at a turning point now that political actors have managed to meet and agree on elections, according to the Head of the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).

Sandra Honoré said these recent dialogues led to the signing of an accord to hold combined elections in 2014, which can pave the way to further sustainable economic development in the long-troubled country.

The UN has reinforced its presence in Haiti since the ravaging earthquake of January 2010.

Cristina Silveiro met with Ms. Honoré during a recent visit to New York.

They discussed MINUSTAH's collaboration with the Haitian government during this crucial transition.
