Countries are being urged to adopt a new approach to migration that places the rights of migrants at the forefront.

The Human Rights Council in Geneva held a debate on Tuesday on the promotion and protection of their migrant rights.

Stories of abuse, exploitation and discrimination of migrants are often heard on a daily basis, according to senior UN officials attending the event.
