Palestinian refugees in Syria

Over 30 leading film makers, writers, artists, musicians and public figures have come together in a joint public letter to the United Nations advocating for the creation of what they are calling "local ceasefires" and "safe spaces" for all civilians in Syria.

The appeal comes as food deliveries to the besieged Palestinian refugee camp of Yarmouk in Damascus have resumed.

Twenty thousand people are still trapped there.

The group of thirty has written to the Presidents of the UN General Assembly and the Security Council to ask what action they can take to ensure the safety of Syrians in Yarmouk and elsewhere.

Bella Freud, a UK-based designer, is one of signatories. She runs the Hoping Foundation which supports Palestinian refugees.

Daniel Dickinson asked her why she joined the appeal.
