Ban: both sides in Ukraine conflict should "lower the temperature", engage in dialogue

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Restoring calm in Ukraine and promoting direct talks between its authorities and Russia is now of utmost importance.

That's what UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said to the press in Geneva on Monday after his opening address to the 25th session of the annual Human Rights Council.

Tensions flared when Russian troops and armoured vehicles were reportedly deployed in Ukraine's Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
