Libyan authorities are being urged to do their utmost to put an end to instability and insecurity in the country.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) released a statement on Tuesday to express its deep concern about the continued violence in the country.

Assassinations, bombings, kidnappings are just some of the ongoing violent acts that are threatening to destabilize Libya.

Attacks in the east and other Libyan areas have targeted a wide range of dignitaries and civilians alike including judges, members of the security forces, activists, Arab and foreign nationals.

Infrastructure has also been attacked such as polling centres, buildings, housing, Government and diplomatic missions.

UNSMIL warned these violent acts violated human dignity and undermined the values that Libyans uphold as they aspire to build a State based on the rule of law and the respect for human rights.
