Terrorist attack in Egypt condemned by UN chief

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

A terrorist attack on a bus in Egypt, which reportedly killed four people and wounded many others, has been strongly condemned by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Three tourists from the Republic of Korea were amongst the dead in the attack on Sunday in the Sinai.

Egypt has witnessed considerable violence since the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak three years ago following mass protests.

Last July, renewed demonstrations, in which dozens of people were killed and wounded, led to the military deposing President Mohamed Morsi and the setting up of an interim government.

A new constitution was adopted in a referendum last month.
