Polio vaccination campaign begins in Syrian camp for Palestinian refugeesListen /
A large-scale polio vaccination campaign targeting thousands of Palestinian children has begun in the Yarmouk refugee camp just south of the Syrian capital Damascus.
The UN agency for Palestine refugees, UNRWA, said it had also continued with food distributions in the camp, delivering over 800 parcels on Tuesday.
Food supplements, and rehydration salts were also provided
Yarmouk is a camp for Palestinian refugees established in 1957 and has been largely cut off from the outside world since December 2012 due to the ongoing civil war in Syria.
UNRWA recently regained access to the camp where 20,000 Palestinian refugees are still living.
