Crowd-sourcing platform to help youth contribute to development

Listen /

Young people around the world are being encouraged to contribute to the UN's development agenda of the post-2015 era through an online crowd-sourcing platform.

The United Nations is currently working with Member States and civil society to define the Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs which will replace the Millennium Development Goals after 2015.

Ahmed Alhendawi, the UN Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth said the online platform will provide a crucial opportunity for young people to contribute to defining the new goals.

"We are hoping that Member States will reflect the youth's priorities that will be coming from the crowd-sourcing and [include them in] the post-2015 development agenda and the SDGs, the Sustainable Development Goals."

The SDGs are expected to be debated in the UN General Assembly in September before being formally adopted.

The crowd-sourcing platform can be found at crowdsourcing.itu.int
