Children who have been evacuated from the old city of Homs in Syria have been described by the UN Children's Fund UNICEF as "terrified, frail and emaciated."

The warring parties in Syria agreed a ceasefire during which at least 500 children were brought out of the city which has been under siege for the last two years.

UNICEF staff also reported seeing about 20 pregnant women among the evacuees.
